The Opportunity
 
Corporate Facilities provides the City of Barrie with expertise in four key service areas:  facility planning, design and construction; maintenance and property management, facility asset management and energy management.  As a Centre of Excellence for a large and complex inventory of physical assets, the department comprises all the necessary functions and lines of business to ensure the full life-cycle management of the City of Barrie's facility and property portfolios.
 
Under the general guidance of the Facility Renewal Project Lead and Senior Project Manager, the Project Coordinator (Capital Facilities) is responsible for the planning and implementation of the City of Barrie's Business Plan related to facility capital projects assigned to the Corporate Facilities Department. This position prepares various administrative documents and reports; inspects and monitors the performance of consultants and contractors and provides customer service support throughout the life of assigned capital projects. Overall, this position plays an integral role in supporting the day-to-day project & contract administration for projects under the Facilities Planning and Development branch.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications) 
  • Three (3) year College Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology, Architectural or Engineering Sciences or a closely related discipline

Experience 
  • Three (3) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience in the contract administration of projects related to the construction of buildings and facilities
 
Knowledge/Skill/Ability 
  • Working knowledge of the following legislation, regulations, or requirements: Occupational Health and Safety Act; Ontario Building Code; Construction Act
  • Working knowledge of the following principles and standards: Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) contracts
  • Demonstrated Ability to:
    • communicate effectively in written and verbal form
    • maintain proper documentation and work records
    • coordinate simultaneous projects
    • build good working relationships with managers and staff, Contractors and the general public
    • read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Intermediate skills include: Interpersonal; Multitasking; Organizational; Public Relations; Time Management
  • Intermediate computer literacy using the following systems and software: Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project), Adobe Acrobat
  • Availability to accommodate deadlines or peak period workloads that may extend beyond designated normal workday hours or normal hours per week

Other Important Information
 
Location: Corporate Facilities, 157 Bradford St, Barrie, ON
*Please note that the City has a Hybrid Work Program Policy in place that may allow for a hybrid work arrangement for employees who meet eligibility requirements. 
 
Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
 
Wage: This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 2025 pay range:
  • Pay Level: Level 5
  • Yearly Salary: $58,949.80  to $70,597.80
  • Hourly Pay Rate: $32.39 to $38.79
