The Opportunity
The Legislative and Court Services Department is comprised of three branches; Legislative Services (which includes Council Secretariat, Corporate Mail and Print Services, Vital Statistics and Access and Privacy Services), Court Services (which is responsible for the administration of justice within two court service areas in compliance with the Provincial Offences Act, the Memorandum of Understanding and Inter-municipal Service Agreements) and Enforcement Services which is responsible for administering and enforcing several municipal by-laws including but not limited to regulations related to the parking of vehicles, pet controls, property maintenance, business licensing, and sign placement).
Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor of Court Services, the Court Administration Assistant (Student) is responsible for assisting with processing charges, completing standardized notices and letters, providing customer service, and filing payments. Specifically, this position supports the Court Services Branch with file management and reviewing daily court listings that ensures accuracy and efficiency of the Court Services Branch. Overall, this position plays an integral role in supporting the administration of Provincial Offences, Court processes, and ensuring that the integrity of the Ontario Court of Justice system is maintained.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Currently enrolled in or is a student in Secondary School, College, or University*
*Minimum of 16 years of age or turning 16 by the end of the calendar year and must have attended one of the academic establishments listed above the year in which they are applying for employment and/or returning the following year
Experience

Demonstrated experience performing duties related to the Court Administration Assistant (Student) major responsibilities
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- General knowledge of computer hardware and software

Demonstrated ability to:
- maintain a high standard of public relations at all times
- work collaboratively in a group setting to achieve a desired objective, goal and/or outcome
- interact effectively and courteously with all levels of staff and contacts in a community/client service environment
- Basic customer service, attention to detail, administrative, interpersonal, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills
- Basic computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Work Term: June - August 2025
Location: 575 West Street South, Unit 10, Orillia, Ontario
Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week
Wage: $18.11 to $23.44 per hour
